FAQ
Why do I need back-open clothing for my loved one?
Back-open or adaptive clothing is generally requested by the care home for those residents that have mobility issues, i.e., difficultly in lifting their arms above their head, or must be dressed while in bed, before being transferred to a mobility device such as a wheel chair.
Who benefits from back-open clothing?
Some think the benefit is just for the care home workers and not the resident...the truth is that both benefit as it is safer and easier for the resident to dress and also safer for the care giver by not having to lift the resident to fit the clothing on them.
Do your products use hook and loop fasteners?
No. The majority of our products have snaps not hook and loop fasteners. Hook and loop fasteners tend to become brittle under the high heat conditions they are subjected to in the institutional wash and also become clogged with lint.
How long will your product last in the care home wash?
We strive to select cloth that will last in the care home wash. This is a difficult problem to solve as conditions vary from home to home. We have found most of our products still being worn long after similar items, of a lower standard, have become unusable.
How long does delivery take?
Under normal circumstances(no major weather events, etc.)delivery is generally within three days of placing your order.
Is back-open or adaptive clothing tax exempt?
In general all back-open or adaptive clothing is exempt from GST/HST. In some provinces we have been able to secure PST exemptions as well.
Is a doctor's signature required to get the tax exemption?
Currently the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) requires a doctor's signature indicating that back-open clothing is required for the claimant's daily living.
